The right to live

The person at the centre of regeneration

Abstract

The section “Design(ing), from the spoon to the city”, presented at the Italian Pavilion of the Venice Architecture Biennial 2021, curated by Alessandro Melis, beyond the contents and the single virtuous narrations, puts at the centre of the research, as a result of the initial concept, but above all after the installation and with time, the “person” as the only proper research that can really “generate” and “regenerate” space at all scales of intervention. The resilient cities in the Section tell, in different ways and with different accents, stories that are always linked to “people” because the history of the individual communities has been made by women and men together or individually in a standard search for beauty capable of “weaving together past and environment, sustainability and inclusion, conservation and innovation” (Padua) outside of temporal events or episodic and fertile occasions for innovation.
