Slow Apocalypses

The present challenge of the Italian rural areas

Abstract

Design and the vision of human space are at the centre of the contemporary anthropological debate. From the analysis of non-western contexts, anthropology has contributed to a reflection involving social sciences and design sciences, exploring the nexus between space, collective and individual imaginaries, and socio-cultural transitions. This commitment has intensified over the last decade, making architecture and design the objects of specific works. In this context, particular attention is given to the forms of living places, the network of functional, emotional and ideal relationships that envelop the individual and the community and become signifiers of their surroundings.
